Lunch will be provided.
- Discussion of mowing theory and all aspects of cutting unit adjustments and configurations to achieve high performance mowing results.
- Learn how to measure / calculate reel mower; frequency of clip, cutting unit attitude, reel diameter, reel coning, blade path.
- Discuss, demonstrate, perform maintenance procedures reel and bedknife grinding, back lapping, bedknife re-facing and de-burring techniques, setting bedknife attitude, paralleling cutting unit rollers. Provide instruction for proper adjustment of cutting unit turf compensation springs and traction unit counter balance springs.
This all day seminar will consist of both a formal presentation and hands-on interaction.
Jim Nedin has been associated with the turf industry for over forty years. He began his professional career as a golf course superintendent in the early 70’s and has taught turf industry related seminars for over thirty years. Since that time, Jim has provided technical support for a multitude of state, regional, national and international golf tournaments. Jim conducts relevant turf equipment maintenance and application seminars, for various turf industry associations and universities.
Jim received degrees in mechanical engineering from LaSalle University and general business, marketing and accounting from Pittsburgh Business Institute. In past years, Jim served on Penn State Universities Turf Equipment Maintenance Advisory Board, and is currently a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, Greater Pittsburgh, PA chapter.
