    Equipment Manager/Mechanic

    The responsibility of the Mechanic is to assist in maintaining the excellent playing condition of the golf course. The Mechanic will perform major and minor mechanical repairs on a variety of diesel and gasoline powered equipment under the general direction of the Superintendent.

    Experience Requirements

    • 1-3 years Mechanic experience
    • Knowledge of small engine repair
    • Experience in golf course equipment repair but not required
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely
    • Ability to inspect equipment and related component
    • Must be highly motivated, goal driven and self-starter
    • Must have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions

    Special Requirements

    • Must provide own basic tools.
    • Must be highly organized, efficient and detail oriented
    • Maintain equipment repair logs
    • Conduct an effective preventative maintenance program on all equipment
    • Perform major and minor mechanical repairs on all golf course equipment /golf carts
    • Assist in providing a safe work culture and manage staff when called upon
    • Perform general maintenance repair for the clubhouse and surrounding area
    • Moderate exposure to extreme cold, heat, working outdoors, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards. Work extended hours during golf season
    • Moderate physical activity including sitting, standing, walking, crouching/stooping

    Assistant Equipment Technician

    General Purpose:

    Performs a variety of mechanical repairs, maintenance work, and equipment servicing of motorized equipment.

    Essential Duties:

    • Overhauls and repairs maintenance vehicles, mowing equipment and other power equipment.
    • Lubricates and services all equipment.
    • Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustments where necessary.
    • Maintains up-to-date understanding of hydraulic systems, repairs and their components.
    • Inspects, changes and repairs tires.
    • Assists in controlling tool access and use by maintenance staff.
    • Cleans working areas after repair work is completed.
    • Assists in fabricating, body repair and painting.
    • Adjusts cutting units on mowing equipment.

    Educational Requirements

    Certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.

    Physical Demands:

    Frequently stands and walks; uses hands; reaches with hands and arms; stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls. Occasionally sits, climbs or balances. Regularly talks or hears. Regularly lifts up to 10 pounds and occasionally may lift up to100 pounds.

    Environment/Noise:

    Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather); with toxic or caustic materials; in extreme cold or heat (non-weather); may experience vibration. Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions and may face the risk of electrical shock or encounter fumes or airborne pathogens. Frequently works in areas near moving mechanical parts.     The person employed in this capacity will perform his/her duties under the direction of the Superintendent of Turf.  The Turf Specialist will perform all duties required to maintain a sand base and native soil Bermuda grass fields at the Sportsplex.  Must be available to work Nights, Weekends and on Holidays.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Ability to supervise and assign duties to part-time, seasonal interns and weekend employees.

    The individual will be required to assist the superintendent and management staff in the daily preparation of the golf course. Learning agronomic strategies with detail to maintenance, fertilizers, and spray schedules will also be required for the position. Some experience with calibration, irrigation and drainage installation, and small construction projects are helpful, but not necessary.

    Assistant Superintendent Position

    Lakewood is currently looking to fill the Assistant Superintendent position. Lakewood is a private, member owned, country club. The Club consists of an 18 hole golf course, driving range, and short game practice area, 4 hard court tennis courts and a pool.

    The golf course consists of bentgrass greens, a mix of 419 and common tees, fairways and roughs, with a few zoysia tees.

    Applicants should be career driven, motivated, have a high attention for detail, have a strong desire to learn, and be a team player.

    The assistant will be involved in all areas of the maintenance operation.

    2 year or 4 year degree preferred but not necessary.

    The position is a salary position. Range is 30-35k per year with vacation and sick days, association dues paid, as well as uniforms.
