    Lake Barkley State Resort Park is located in Western Kentucky near Cadiz Kentucky.  This Larry Packard designed 18-hole golf course has USGA greens with Penncross bentgrass turf.  Tees, fairways and primary rough are Tifway II bermudagrass and secondary rough is warm and cool season grasses.  More info can be found at: https://parks.ky.gov/golf/courses/lake-barkley/

    Supervises, trains and assists a group of maintenance personnel in theperformance of routine care and maintenance work for an 18 or a 27-hole golf course under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent II.Assigns and supervises mowing of all turf areas, and the performing of all agronomic practices required to manage a golf course.Inspects machinery and equipment to determine their operating condition and repair needs. Purchases supplies for the park and golf course. Performs public relations functions. Maintains operating records and makes reports of park and golf activities. Preparesreports, summaries and recommendations pertaining to golf coursedevelopment.

    Some travel required for turf and department meetings and conferences.  Overtime and weekends required periodically.  Salary based on education and experience.

    Educational Requirements

    Minimum Education: Post secondary education, vocational or technical training in turf management, agronomy, horticulture or related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

    Must have two years experience working in the field of golf course maintenance or turf management.

    History:

    Green Meadow Country Club is an 18 hole private Country Club located in Alcoa Tennessee within ten miles of Knoxville. The club was founded in 1925 and is the only private Country Club in Blount County. The course sits on 120 acres and has a Junior Olympic pool, six lighted tennis courts, clubhouse, lounge, and full service dining room.

    Course Description:

    The golf course features 6 year old miniverde Bermuda greens, 419 bermuda tees, approaches and fairways. Roughs are mostly Bermuda with some fescue in some shady areas. There is a driving range, one putting green, two chipping greens, one featuring a short game practice area.  The irrigation system is supplied by multiple wells on site and heads are controlled by satellite boxes on the course. Just completed a $250K Bunker renovation project

    Greystone Golf Club is an 18-hole, daily fee golf course that offers a challenging yet fun round of golf to players of all skill levels.  Located in historic Dickson, the course is a short drive from Nashville and is easily accessible throughout Middle Tennessee.  We have Bentgrass greens, Meyer Zoysia tees and fairways, and Fescue/Bermuda roughs.
     
    Job Overview
     
    Reporting directly to the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent assists the Superintendent in comprehensive golf course management and upkeep. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, turf management programs, property/asset management, personnel management and development, irrigation system oversight and administering pesticide applications.
     
    Requirements
     
    Basic Functions

    • Assist Superintendent in all phases of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, cost control and personnel
    • Works directly with the Superintendent to maintain golf course in a fiscally responsible and professional manner
    • Work independently and be a self-starting problem solver
    • Aid in the care and maintenance of turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees on the property
    • Aids and assists staff with planting of new vegetation, maintaining and periodically removing and replacing trees, and focusing on high stress areas
    • Aids in the recruitment, supervision and retention of maintenance staff.
    • Oversees staff in the proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment
    • Participates in the application and recording of chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides…) on the Club’s grounds in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
    • Acts as Superintendent when the Superintendent is absent

     
    Knowledge & Skills Required 

    • Knowledge of management and maintenance of greens, fairways and roughs
    • Knowledge of use of equipment and tools used for golf course maintenance
    • Skilled in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating employees
    • As required have the proper certifications for safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products used in maintaining the course
    • Cursory knowledge of the game of golf, rules and methods of play
    • Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment and material needs related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments
    • Ability and knowledge to layout irrigation and drainage patterns

     
    Minimum Qualifications 

    • Two-year Degree or Certification in Turf Management or related field, (ex. Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant or Soil Science) or equivalent experience.
    • Advanced knowledge of irrigation systems
    • Valid driver’s license

    Salary commensurate with background and experience.
